The
North Delta Water Agency was formed by a special act of the legislature
adopted in 1973. Its boundaries encompass approximately 300,000 acres
situated within Sacramento, Yolo, Solano and San Joaquin Counties. The
purpose of the Agency is to negotiate, enter into, administer, and enforce
an agreement with the Unites States and/or the State of California to (a)
protect the water supply of the lands within the Agency against intrusion of
ocean salinity and (b) assure the lands within the Agency of a dependable
supply of water of suitable quality sufficient to meet present and future
needs.
